James Mayo

Role with SOS: CEO/Founder – Head of Global Sales

How long you’ve been here: Since the beginning

Your affiliation with being a runner: Running is in my veins and whilst I’m now old, I still love a run 4 to 6 times a week as it helps me focus and relax. Back in the far far distant past I ran for Great Britain over 800m.  I won the National Mile championships and I ran for the British Army.

Interesting and friendly facts: I used host weekend news on Sports Centre’s ESPN. I love brightly coloured socks, in fact I don’t own a black pair. I’m a morning person. After SOS, Champagne is my favourite drink, well Procescco. I’m an entrepreneur. I have lived in 27 places since I was born on a February morning in Yorkshire back when computers didn’t exist.


 

THOMAS Mayo (NZ)

Role with SOS: Founder – Head of Global Marketing and Creative

How long you’ve been here: Since the beginning when cavemen were first thirsty.

Your affiliation with being a runner: I have ran a mile in 3 minutes and 55 seconds and now run to get my board whenever the surf is on.

Interesting and friendly facts:
I boarded 243 flights through 2016.
I read track and field results and local surf reports every day.
I love the dehydrators of coffee and IPA Beer and then reversing the damage by drinking SOS.
I know that SOS will be a world leader one day.
I know that SOS has an amazing team of people who will shape the future world of Hydration for years to come.


 

Blanca Mayo

Role with SOS: Chief medical officer/ Founder

How long you’ve been here: Since before the beginning

Your affiliation with being a runner: I’m married to a runner. I love running to keep fit though I’m not as good as Tom or James. I prefer Zumba.

Interesting and friendly facts: It was me who formulated SOS unique and secret recipe, I’m a qualified medical doctor, I’m not a morning person. I’m pretty good at football. I’m a terrible chef but I can make mean Mexican dishes.


 

Dan Wallis

Role with SOS: Chief Content Officer : As the Chief Content Officer as SOS, I’m responsible for telling the story of our brand.

How long you’ve been here: I’ve been involved with SOS since 2014, beginning as a sponsored athlete back in New Zealand.

Your affiliation with being a runner: When I’m not thinking and writing about SOS, I’m a professional distance runner for Nike. In 2016 I made my debut at the Chicago marathon, finishing 17th in 2:19.

Interesting and friendly facts: I am a graduate of Colorado State University, where I ran Track and Cross-Country and have spent most of the past 10 years in the U.S.


 

Sam Henry

Role with SOS: Operations Manager

How long you’ve been here: Since the beginning – 3 years!

Your affiliation with being a runner: Became hooked on running as a way to keep fit for rowing and now can’t remember a day when I didn’t run.

Interesting and friendly facts: Perfect summer drink: One part vodka, one part SOS Mango with soda water, and one part SOS Citrus with orange juice; garnish with lemon and orange slice on ice.


 

Ian Hough (UK)

Role with SOS: Head of UK Sales

How long you’ve been here: Since we launched in the UK in 2014

Your affiliation with being a runner: I was a semi pro footballer turned 800m runner, my brother ‘Rob Hough’ was a Team GB Steeple chaser ‘He loved getting his feet wet’

Interesting and friendly facts: I’m a dad to two crazy energetic boys who both love football and running. You will see me chasing them around the park while they’re chasing Pokemon Go!


 

Jemma Simpson (UK)

Role with SOS: Marketing executive/ UK sales assistant

How long you’ve been here: Since October 2016

Your affiliation with being a runner: I’m a 2008 Olympian. I was a Nike sponsored, Team GB Athlete for 11 years and finished in the top two at every Senior British Championships from 2005–2012. I ran in every major championship during this time and was ranked in the top 10 in world for 2 consecutive years. My favourite event was the 800m/1500m, I love tactical championship races the most!

Interesting and friendly facts: I featured as an extra in the film ‘The Da Vinci Code’ and on the set of ‘Neighbours’ in Australia. I love learning new things, creating ideas, meeting people, eating, and drinking healthily. I’m dating a marathoner (2.11) and Team SOS Ambassador Chris Thompson (he keeps me laughing). For the Americans reading this, yes I’ve met the Queen, she’s lovely!


 

Chantelle Fondren (USA North)

Role with SOS: Senior Sales Manager USA North.

How long you’ve been here: For one year.

Your affiliation with being a runner: I was NCAA all American at DII level (Saginaw Valley/UCCS). Now I live and train in Seattle, Washington. Currently training to get my dog tired! I ran loads in college and I love the 5K.

Interesting and friendly facts: I’m an outdoor enthusiast. Whether it be hiking through the woods, climbing up mountains, or fishing in streams, I enjoy it all! I love the sport of track and field and the community which surrounds the sport.


 

Danielle Luningham (USA SouTH)

Role with SOS: Senior sales manager USA South

How long you’ve been here: Been with the company over 2 years

Your affiliation with being a runner: 3 x half iron man finisher.

Interesting and friendly facts: I have been a Pilates instructor for 4 years. I enjoy working out and being outdoors! I love to travel and explore new places by running. Cooking is one of my favorite ways to wind down and try something new!.


 

Jesse Tuke (NZ)

Role with SOS: Regional sales manager – NZ and Hawaii

How long you’ve been here: 3 years, since the packets were big and the cross was red

Your affiliation with being a runner: Like most New Zealanders, sport has been second nature to me, I’ll give any sport a go. I played rugby and sailed competitively but it was SOS that introduced me to running. When I was going to run groups multiple times a week to sample SOS, my excuses not to join in ran out fast.

Interesting and friendly facts: I have three older brothers. A captain, doctor and 2 x Olympic medallist, then there’s me haha!


 

Wilkerson Given

Role with SOS: Director of College ambassador programme/sales/events

How long you’ve been here: Since May 2016

Your affiliation with being a runner: I began running my 8th  grade year of junior high and have been running ever since. The most recent milestone of my running career was racing in the 2016 US Olympic marathon trials.

Interesting and friendly facts: I am a graduate of Furman University and while my degree and the primary focus of my formal education have been in business administration, I also have a passion for nutrition. I enjoy living a healthy lifestyle and am always seeking to further educate myself on nutritional information, especially as it relates to physical performance. SOS is my foundation for proper and healthy hydration and a key to maximizing my running performance!


 

Liz Costello

Role with SOS: Massachusetts Sales Manager

How long you’ve been here: Started in December 2016 (6 months)

Your affiliation with being a runner: Currently I run professionally for New Balance as a member of Team New Balance, Boston.

Interesting and friendly facts: Favourite SOS flavouring is Mango and Coconut. Second favourite drink besides SOS is coffee. Hometown is Strafford, Pennsylvania. Dogs > Cats. I have one younger sibling, my brother James!
